90 members of the Fanfarenzug Strausberg Showband are ready to go on tour to the world championships of the WAMSB. Not just as ambassadors of their hometown Strausberg but especially for showing their best performance of the year to an international audience that they have worked for together. During that time, a team has developed with the mission to impress the world and theirselves with their show and marching performances.
Team spirit needs to grow – Success is a result.
In a marching band it’s pretty important to rehearse with the whole band, especially the last weeks before a competition. What counts eventually is the performance of the whole band which is the result of everyone equally. Not every musician is aware of that from the beginning but it is definetely one of the most valuable personality traits caused by a marching band. You can easily watch how the team spirit is growing and growing during the season.
When people who might never have met become friends and motivate each other;
when you feel the familiar atmosphere in the band where everyone feels safe and esteemed
and almost 90 person manage to take time for going to rehearsals besides school, work and privat life then you can already talk about a successful season.
And what’s the output for the team?
It is about being proud of the own team performance and showing yourself why it was worth to invest that much time and energy in marching band rehearsals. This feeling to get enthused by the own band is only replicable by someone who was part of a awesome team himself.
If the audience gets infected by this enthusiasm and even the jury is impressed, a high score will reward the team performance on top.
SHOWBAND – TEAM profits from Double burden .
„Busy teenagers are happy teenagers“ is written in lots of studies. A hobby that demands a lot of the youths is at first glance an additional stress factor but a positive one.
While parents raise the alarm that school is more important, children in such stressful times are learning very quickly to organize their lives.The expectations, to perform best in school and on the field have the result that learn more effective so they eventually are just great in everything. There is nothing worse than boredom and this is something that marching band kids don’t know at all!
But not only students need a good time management before competitions. Also university students and employees are showing organizational skills and persuasiveness to find time for the band.
A big thank you goes to all the parents that support and encourage their children, to all the principals and teachers as well as to all the employers that make the participation in the world championships possible!
